Sindicat La Figuera was originally a small Catalan cooperative in the Montsant mountains, founded in 1932, producing brilliant, pure wines. In 1950, a great storm devastated the village and vineyards, emptying the area of its population. Although a few winegrowers replanted vines of Garnatxa, there were only 3 winegrowers left.
